Madonna addressing ageism about 20 years ago.

I was watching old interviews of Madonna today. Her early 90s, Blonde Ambition era was so rad. I love how strong she was in interviews, how she didn’t take bullshit from anyone, how she spoke her mind. She took on The Vatican! But she wasn’t crass. She was intelligent, articulate, funny. She dealt with issues that actually mattered to people. Religion, feminism, AIDS, gay rights. But she never preached. She posed questions and encouraged discussion about difficult issues.
Another thing that I liked in her interviews is how she spoke about her fans. She treated them as intelligent, mature individuals. She didn’t baby-talk or pander to them. It never came off like she was using them or looking at them like a target demographic to sell records to, you know? It was about her music. Which is why I love her so much. She earned my respect.

Madonna, Perfect Blue, and a hint of “I Feel Love” is a winning combination.
Madonna // Bedtime Story
This video is so good, that it’s in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Also, it’s my favourite Madonna video.
